THE SOCIETY of INDEPENDENT REPRESENTATIVES A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ASSOCIATION FORMED IN THE STATE OF OHIO Due to the vast amounts of revenue lost in a single year to Field Contractors across the country, The Society was formed with just a few basic goals in mind. Since it's inception, many things have changed and the scope of operation has greatly expanded to include many more issues. OBJECTIVES To raise the quality of service being performed To increase the level of ethics and responsibility To identify where cash flow losses may occur To educate the public of the industry and To assist in the reduction of conflict in the field. SIR's is addressing each of these issues in order to present a more professional and binding relationship with the various governing bodies and national firms that issue contract field work. MEMBERSHIP Open to all that seek a higher level of training, provide a (more) professional service to their clients and, who are willing to undertake the overall concept of what SIR's is all about. All applicants must meet standards set forth in the By-Laws. Those not meeting minimum criteria are voted upon for membership. SIR's reserves the right to investigate all applicants and/or revoke membership for providing false or misleading information on their application. SIR's By-Laws strictly enforces the memberships pledge to ethical and professional conduct. TRAINING All training is designed to produce a higher quality of service and ethical responsibility exceeding any or all regulations that may be in force at any given time. Training is offered in various ways depending on where you are physically located but does include all aspects of Field Servicing. In some case, video tapes are sufficient, in other cases the "hands on" method is required. Basic small business ownership and operations can be included. TESTING Upon passing your final testing you will receive a certificate. This allows you to post yourself as a "Certified Preservation Specialist" with your clients and the SIR's web site.

BENEFITS: SIR's has developed several avenues of cost reduction for supplies, materials and business operations. They include discounts for motels, vehicles, healthcare, tools, office supplies, computer equipment and the various locks used in the industry. ISSUES WE FACE TODAY: "Forced Conformity" to a business plan other than your own, Mold Abatement, Unpaid Receipts, Fee Schedules..these are just a few of the issues at hand that SIR's is addressing and will continue until the issue is resolved. GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS: This industry is regulated to a great extent by the various Federal Loan Guarantors, who publish extensive regulations for all work performed on their properties. In the past, these governing bodies have communicated with lenders only, the lenders in turn disburse work to field contractors; therein lies a large problem, the lender has little or no control over the quality of work that is produced. One of our objectives is to address this problem by raising awareness of how SIR's members complete work, by providing lenders and servicers with access to websites which display properly completed tasks and how they should appear. SIR's also provides direct access to contractors nationwide through our on-line Independent Field Service Providers Directory and SIR's Member Directory. As a public service, SIR's offers listings in the directory free of charge and both dictories are free to use. In turn, SIR's will have a direct link to more fully understand the governing bodies problems, more fully understand their interpretation of the regulations and, be able to identify those outside firms or individuals that divert federal funds to their own uses.
